Enjoy a country cottage holiday in the beautiful Avon valley. Children and pets welcome.

Ford cottage is a 16th century weavers cottage just yards from the water meadows of the Frome and Avon. The Frome is a tributary of the Avon and the ford, now replaced with a bridge, has been a crossing place since the 10th century.
(Click here to explore with Google Street View which will open in a new window.)

The cottage is just around the corner from the 16th century Inn at Freshford which overlooks the Freshford bridge. The Inn is a popular destination for walkers in the area serving fine food and very good local beer.

Just five minutes walk away from the cottage is the Freshford railway station. Hourly off peak and half hourly peak trains connect to Bristol, Bath, Bradford on Avon and all stations to Weymouth. So... if you don't have a car, or would rather leave it at home, Ford Cottage is perfectly situated for a low carbon break.

There is a great community shop just ten minutes walk away where you can get most things you will need, including a cup of coffee and a cake.

The Cottage

Compact and with original features the cottage is functional rather than luxurious.

It sleeps four ( at a pinch). There is one twin master bedroom and a smaller back bedroom with two bunk beds. The two bedrooms connect separately to the bathroom and toilet, but the access to the ground floor is via the master bedroom, so this has to be taken into account if you are coming with friends.

The ground floor is a small but comfortable oak beamed room with a drop leaf dining table and chairs, a large comfy chesterfield and a wood-burning stove in an original fireplace.

Background heating is provided by night storage heaters.

Wi–Fi and cable internet are provided free, also a BT landline as there is little or no mobile signal. There is no television, but there are books, games and stereo provided – or you could always go to the pub! ddddd Sorry.. no TV there either. So... if you must watch the box, better bring a laptop.

The kitchen is again, compact, but well equipped and very functional. Let your creativity flow!

Just inside the main door is a passage area with a washing machine and dryer. There are loads of logs provided, and this is the place to put muddy boots and bikes.

There is no garden and limited parking but you can park in the pub car park by arrangement.
The Ploprof achieved fame in the wake of the spectacular underwater missions in which it participated. The most important of these was the Janus Program, with which Comex rolex replica tested saturation diving for the Elf petroleum company. Three divers manned a pressured chamber 200 meters below the surface of the Gulf of Ajaccio, off Corsica, for eight consecutive days, during which replica watches they worked on the seafloor at 250 meters' depth for up to six hours each day, setting a new depth record. Rolex at this time was experimenting with the helium valve, which it used for the first time in the breitling replica Sea-Dweller in 1971, but Omega pursued a different strategy with its Ploprof: the case was constructed and insulated so that helium atoms couldn't penetrate it during the saturation dive, preventing the omega replica watches danger of explosion during the subsequent decompression.
